Yes, I know; thinking about spring and summer events is probably not on your radar. Honestly? Not really on mine, either, because I'm all about those warm winter projects like boot socks and cowls and cozy sweaters.
However, I get it; some people are planners and would prefer to have something to look forward to.
So, here are a few upcoming events.
LYS Day--that wonderful, wonderful day every year when we celebrate the brick and mortar Local Yarn Store--is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, 2022. And yes, there will be sales, coupons, and probably some fun LYS-DAY-ONLY special items. Keep your eyes peeled. All things LYS Day will be announced on all of our available channels closer to the date itself.
Worldwide Knit in Public Day 2022 is scheduled for Saturday, June 11, 2022! And, just as we did last year and the year before, we'll be giving out some fun prizes to those who participate and post photos of their yarn work in public--provided they tag the shop, of course (otherwise, we won't see it...)! Although WWKiP started as a time for knitters to show off their mad yarn skills, it's a craft-inclusive endeavor, so crocheters, needle felters, weavers, spinners, tatters, bobbin lace makers... ALL are welcome!
Yes, we will be hosting our annual Habetrot's Wheel Virtual Summer Sock Make-Along this year, but with some fun changes! In the past, our Sock Make-Along was designed for Facebook Groups, but we're opening it up this year to try and be as accessible as possible. The Make-Along will run from June 1, 2022 to July 15, 2022. Links to tutorial videos, free patterns, and other sock resources will be accessible through this website on our Tutorials, Tips, Patterns, and Podcast page. There will be a Facebook group component for those who prefer to interact in that forum, headed by the talented Juli, one of the founding members of our Virtual Sit and Stitch group. You can post photos of your progress and your socks via Facebook and Instagram, tag the shop, and use the hashtag #habetrotswheelsockMAL2022 so everyone can see your wonderful socks! Or, feel free to post photos of your socks and comments to this blog throughout the Sock Make-Along or email them to me, and, with your permission, I'll post them for you! Additionally, for those who would like to learn how to knit socks but are uncomfortable doing so via YouTube or a book, Holly Nowak at the Studios at St. Mary's will be offering a sock class at their fiber arts studio that coincides with the timing of the Sock Make-Along. PLUS, I have some great new and inexpensive sock yarn ordered for us. We already have some great giveaways and fun extras planned for participants, as well.
July marks three years since HW opened its doors. In fact, July 25th is the anniversary of our Grand Opening. And if you've been a customer for the past few years, you know that our Anniversary Month means our Annual Anniversary Sale, too! More info to come!
From July 15 - August 1, 2022, we'll also be hosting a virtual Christmas Ball Knit-Along as many of you have expressed interest in making the Arne and Carlos Christmas Balls. I'll provide links to their fantastic tutorials on YouTube along with photos showing the progress of knitting at least one of their fabulous Christmas Ball patterns (you can purchase their patterns on the Arne and Carlos website).
Finally, I am checking to see if Berroco will be hosting their annual Summer "Tee" Party, as well, and if they are, then we'll have lots of ways for people to participate in that fabulous event while making some cool summer tops!
